Too Many Categories

I think there is too much overlap with the different forums and categories. The community is not active enough to need so many. One page were people can ask anything is all that’s needed. This is such a niche community, we are all running similar boats, fishing for the same species, and running into the same kind of issues. we don’t need to break it all up. I think there would be more engagement

  • There should be one General Microskiff forum. The general, skiffs and boat, and DIY categories can all be one forum. I don’t take the time to click through all these different forums, I want to click one forum and see all the discussions that I can read and even reply to.
  • Regional pages are good
  • For sale pages are good
  • The dock box could even be in the general. I will never go look in the travel forum but someone may be looking for advice on somewhere I live or have been and I wouldn’t even know.

Thanks for the feedback, but the format is working and will add content as more members are engaged.

If you look at the different posts, we are not all running the same skiffs or fishing for the same species. This is a very diverse audience both in terms of interest and geographic locations.

Part of the specific categories are for the Search engine use. Do you want to scroll through 20 pages in the General section to learn about cutting down a trolling motor shaft or removing 5200 or find a guide recommendation for Timbucktoo?

Check out some of the other categories @BMahoney You might find some hidden gems.

SkiffHQ has only been in existence for a month. Give it some time and help the growth by posting more.

@BMahoney thank you for the feedback! We listen to our members… LOL

There were conversation about this early on. The layout is to support where we will be, not necessarily where we are at the moment. It’s much easier to have a category now vs. needing one later then trying to backfill it with the topics that should have been there to begin with… Ask me how I know. LOL

July 2nd the forum will be a whopping 1 month old. Much of what you see is based on lessons learned from the previous site and how to set up and structure thing to support the long term.

Thank you for taking the time to share, we encourage it and have made many adjustment and changes based on our community feedback.

Cheers!

To simplify that, you hit the drop down menu and select “new” and you get ALL the new post from the entire site. No need to click through all of the tabs.
