Someone had to start this thread and why not start it with a 50th Anniversary Everglades
Nice spool 2, I have one in aqua. I’ll have to get a pic of my entire collection, I don’t think it’s a huge collection but others(my wife) disagree lol
Those are beautiful!
You got to show the spool man…
I want that reel case with the retro logo. Love that.
My favorite (and first) Tibor!
No way to prove it, but the seller said it was the artist Dave Whitlock’s reel that he got for doing work for Dave.
It is almost flawless!
Whoa!!
That’s super cool!
Dave was the first fly tier whose patterns I was able to instantly recognize as a kid in the early ‘80s.
My dad bought me a book of his back then, I was totally blown away when I opened it for the first time!!
He was way ahead of his time.
Basically all modern saltwater flies (minus game changers, gurglers, deceivers, and clousers) are nothing but variations of his freshwater stuff: deer hair flies, near-nuff crayfish, sheep baitfish, and eel-worm patterns.
His hopper has ruined many a freshwater fishes day too.
I had totally forgotten about his art, thanks for reminding me.
Hey Newman,
Glad you recognize the name… most new fly fishers had never heard of Dave.
Do you mind me asking what book it was you had? I love reading older fly books and would like to add to my collection.
Welcome @Jimmymac Thanks for joining. You immediately jump to the top of the list of cleanest shops/garages! Nice.
LL Bean Fly Fishing Handbook
Few years later got my hands on the Fly Fishing for Bass Handbook when it came out.
All of his books are very informative, and have his badass sketches I believe.
And I remember being surprised to learn that he lived in Arkansas, instead of Montana.
He was roping those giant Tailwater browns 30yrs before streamer fishing became cool, can’t imagine how many giants he caught back then.
Some of the classics I poured over as a kid and still sometimes look back over. You are spot on with the quality of Dave’s work in the bass book.
So @Piratedave
What’s up with the pink hair scrunchy on the reel seat of the Hardy’s?
Nice quiver. Only size Tibor I don’t have is the Pacific… it looks like a winch!
Love the freestone!
Man that’s some serious hardware for smallmouth!
Women have purses and shoes I have Tibor’s
