Redfish Rod Blank Suggestions

I am looking to build a new spinning rod for redfish and looking from others who may build rods about what blanks y’all recommend. I am looking for something in the 7’3" to 7’6" fast action medium power range. My rods I currently use are all higher end so I want a blank that will be comparable otherwise I just won’t use it. The last rod I built was a Point Blank and really liked it.

Any suggestions?

I’ve built several rods on the North Fork Composites X-Ray inshore blank and really like them. I like a 7’6" popping blank and the IS 764 is a really versatile rod - it can throw topwater plugs and light soft plastics well.

Point Blank blanks are excellent quality. I’ve built dozens of casters and spinners on them. Rod Geeks out of NY also make some nice blanks.

I ordered two NFC blanks on 5/5. Still waiting on them. After I ordered they said it could take up to 4 months to get them. All I can say is never again.

I’ve been wanting to try some NFC items but I don’t want to wait 4 months for a blank. Point Blank has discontinued all their previous rods and released a few new lines at cast but they are not available yet, I am interested to try them.

Rod Geeks Carbon 5 series.
$10 flat rate shipping from Rod geeks so it’s best to order multiple blanks if you plan on building more down the road.

RG make a good blank. I’ve built a few👍

I’ve recently built two Rod geeks Carbon 2 inshore blanks. Both 7’6” one Med/Fast one Med light/fast, for a local captain. Nothing but positive feedback from him. If it were me personally, I’d choose the med light over the medium. The inshore blanks are built more like Mag Bass taper blank, so the but section is pretty large.

All of my personal rods are CFX Med/Fast 7’ or 7’6”. Absolutely love the blanks, but since leaving FL they aren’t keeping up on the stock, unfortunately.
