After running around Choco in @rovster’s Evo V accompanied by the one and only @DBStoots I thought it’d be nice to get a little more speed out of my X. I spoke to Ken() at Prop Gods his recommendation is a Solas Rubex 11 1/2x14.
It’s on the X so I’ll try it tomorrow if I have time. If I dare to take a chance dealing with all the GOOGANS at the ramp, Saturday.
This is the X with Formens prop. As comfortable as I would run her flat out trimmed out!
In the areas we fish don’t need to jump up so quick a good balance of hole shot and speed is all you need. At least that’s me. Curious what you get as well!
It’s all about needs and wants.
I’ve had good results with Solas props personally.
I’ve talked with Ken as well and he’s definitely a knowledgeable guy.
Where shall I start🤔? It really began with holeshot which wasn’t bad but I had to drop the JP 2” with neutral trim on the motor, completely down. Then she got up with little bow rise. As soon as I trimmed my motor to adjust her attitude she’d wind up to 5grand. I couldn’t trim the motor. That’s no way to run a boat. My speed over ground vs rpm’s, terrible. No midrange speed 20-22mph winding her up to 4800-5000. I can do that at 4-4100 with Jacks prop I can also run her JP maxed out while using trim to help adjust her attitude. Like @Sublime said, the Foreman prop does everything better.
In fairness to the prop and the gentleman that recommended it, he might not have taken into account my compression plate and JP which I’m sure makes a difference.
The compression plate and the jack plate are indeed relevant factors in prop selection (along with other variables). But there’s no denying that Jack Foreman is a skinny water wizard when it comes to prop applications.
