Powertech - Marcus comes through Again!

have a Merc XS 115 F stroke that the original owner had a Spitfire 15P 4 blade.

I wasn’t happy with the hole shot or general running.

Call Marcus at PT and we arranged for a Prop through his contacts to be direct sent.

Long story short, it’s a SCD 4 blade 16 pitch, but, on my first trip I dinged it :frowning: and I wasn’t happy with the hole shot.

Spoke with Marcus and he said sent it on back and he’d work the blade and port it…

Wow what a difference…

Ran it on Sunday - poor fishing day, but, got to run the skiff…so,

Hole Shot - 100% improved…up in 1.5 boat lengths

Top End - slightly improved- was able to run at 5900 rpm at 38 mph with 3/4 tank

Grip - unreal - no slipping on the curves at 25-28 mph which is where I run 90% of the time

Gas mileage improved for some reason - I ran 35.2 miles on Sunday and burned, according to the Mercury Vessel management system - 7 gallons…so, right at 5.0 mpg…we had varying speeds, but, mostly in the 48-4900 rpms @ 27-28 mph.

Call Marcus if you need prop help…I wasn’t interested in top end as 35 mph top cruise is way fast enough when running Chokoloskee and Flamingo.

Pics of the prop.

Glad it worked out. The right prop can make all the performance difference in the world.

Moved to Outboard Maintenance/Props for future reference.

How different is that engine to the newer ProXS? Only props I’ve tried on my boat have been 23P and 24P. Can’t imagine a 15-16P on there. I know that every setup is different. That’s awesome you found what works!

The difference could be the lower unit/ gear ratio

That is a lower pitch than I expected for a 115. What is the gear ratio?
