Hey folks. Just wanted to share my latest blunder…sort of. To help the rest of us.
I had to replace an Odyssey PC1200 battery in my skiff. Did some research and couldn’t find one local so I looked around on line and bought one off Amazon. The Odyssey site talks about the PC1200LT as an off-road/marine use battery with the same power characteristics as the PC1200, but a tad lighter. So I’m sold and order it. BTW man have they gotten expensive. Anyway I get it and throw it on the charger to top it off before installing it. An low and behold…the posts are opposite polarity. I was able to cut some tie wraps and reverse my battery leads and make it work. Just thought I’d post for those looking. M

I got one on the way, it should be in on Tuesday. They have gotten very pricey to say the least. Hopefully my terminals will be on the correct side or I’m going to have to change the rigging I guess. It was hard as heck to find one.

I ended up getting an Optima red top as I kept having issues with the PC1200 I had. It’s a bit bigger but have had 0 issues.

Best Lead Acid batteries made. Keep it on a good conditioner/trickle charge and they last a long time

I agree the lead is pure lead not a “lead Alloy”. With aa good trickle charger on em between use and they last forever.

Just got my replacement in Odyssey ODS-AGM42A, with is their replacement for the PC1200, it’s also listed as PC1200LT. The terminals are in fact reversed. Not a big deal for me as I’m still rigging but it could be a pita for someone already rigged up and just looking to do a swap.
