Not sure

If this is the right place to post this, but I’ll do it anyway, and if you guys wanna move it, feel free.
So on my Moccasin 210, I have a 200 Suzuki which needed thermostats. I was over 400 hours on my water impeller so I decided to change that as well. The boats on Long Island so before I left it for a few months, I prepared her for storage. I decided when flushing the running motor with salt away to run the hose through the port side flush port. Now I know that outboard manufacturers don’t want you running the motor when flushing from those upper ports. I can only figure the reason for this is because they’re afraid the water impeller isn’t gonna be getting enough water and you’re gonna smoke it. I figured what the hell I’m changing the water pump anyway let me give it a shot. So I flushed, running the motor through the upper port side intake. One of the reasons I thought I would try this is, when I do flush the motor from the upper flush ports water is always pouring out my hub so water has to be getting to my water impeller. Well after running the motor for 5 minutes I took the impeller apart it looked absolutely fine. Just thought I’d share.
Any thoughts?

It’s fine at idle, increase the rpms and the pump pushes the water out faster than it can be pushed down the tube.

You’re trying to force water down the water tube, it’s not the correct flow. The inlet to the water pump comes from under the water pump.

I know but I can’t get the motor to pee when using the ears🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s fine in short durations, like flushing.

Does it have the third intake screen under the cavitation plate in front of the anode fin? If it does that’s why muffs don’t work. This is the issue I have covered in a few Suzuki write ups I did on the old site. Some other outboards have that ridiculous waste of engineering as well and I fill every one of them with silicone before they leave my shop.

I’m having the same issue with my 60 Suzuki. I can’t get it to pee when flushing from the bottom with ears.

As long as you’ve been my buddy and you never read or heard me bring up this foolish third intake screen? I thought we discussed this over the phone one time! I’ll post the write up I did when I get time.

I filled the third intake with silicone and reversed the valve. If you recall our conversation, you walked me through the valve reversal.

Your water pump must be toast. I’d check it because with the hose attached to the cowl flush port is pushing water through the block simulating a healthy pee stream. If it can’t pee on the muffs I’d definitely check the water pump. If it’s scorched don’t just change the impeller, do the whole water pump rebuild kit. I have to tell customers to do this all the time because they’ll only replace the impeller and the cup and plate are usually grooved and if you only swap the impeller it will be operating at less than 100% efficiency.
