Does anyone have plans or suggestions on DIY jack stands?
I don’t feel like spending $100s on these for my skiff that weighs 700 pounds.
Would like to lift my skiff off my trailer for various reasons.

Bales of hay?
I mean, if you can find something to safely and securely hold your boat up while it’s not on the trailer for $100 that does not seem expensive.
If you’re trying to spend less than 100 bucks to stuff something under your boat and hold it up. I feel like you’re going to be digging through trash bins.
So if you’re doing that look for big chunks of foam or big chunks of wood.
If you already have a Jack lift up your boat and jam those things underneath it and then lower it back down.
Hay is probably going to separate and your boat will end up on the floor.
You may be able to look in the back of Home Depot or in the back of Best Buy or in the back of Costco and probably find wood chunks or foam
Or wood. Maybe you can find some abandoned railroad ties and cut those up with a chainsaw and block your boat on that
A couple of saw horses worked for me
Blocks of styrofoam or other foam works well. We used to get as much as we wanted from the aluminum delivery guy.
Sawhorses.. But unless you access to scraps you can’t hardly build a set for under $100 these days.
Harbor Freight has their 3 Ton Heavy Duty jack stands for $49.99.
I have standard car Jack stands, I guess just cover the resting spot with foam and use for the skiff
I also keep most of my foam packing matierial as they make excelent popper bodies so could use on the standard jack stands.
You guys down south probably don’t have these lying around but I’ve used my spare set of truck rims with snow tires before now with some plywood on top to sit the boat on. Even doubled up the tires two high.
Here’s what I did temporarily to work on my trailer. Used the straw afterwards in nest boxes for our chickens. Does the word “redneck” get censored here?
Heck no!
Sweet Ride! how much does you Gheenoe weigh? All rigged out like that
Not sure how much it weighed, sorry. I sold it a couple years ago and have been building an aluminum Conchfish ever since.
I use blocks of styrofoam used for shipping things like trailer and what not. I have around 20 of them on hand. They are lightweight and stack neatly in a corner. I like the straw/hay bail idea mentioned for temporary stands also. Another option is to build a simple H beam support cradle with 2x6’s. Just throw a little carpet over the cross beam and slide the boat fore/aft to do the work. Repurpose the lumber when the project is complete.
