I got hit Sunday, a thief stole 2 Orvis Helios/Mirage combos, 2 TFO Axiom IIX with Orvis Hydros reels, all with SA amplitude lines, a pelican case that had all of my fly boxes, captains license, Twic card and La guide license, a compound miter saw, tool kit and a few other odds and ends. He was on a freaking bicycle and had the brass to make 2 trips. All told about $7,000 worth of stuff. Homeowners insurance will cover most of the financial hit, but getting all of the duplicates on the licensure is a PITA and I’ve got to start tying a crapload of flies… Got it all on security camera video but the guy probably still won’t get caught..

Dang! And you know he has no idea what a fly rod is or how to use it.
I hope you can get everything back unharmed. It looks like there may be some road rash on the reels by now

Man, that sucks. I hate thieves, too. Hope they do catch him and you get your stuff back.

How did he get in? These hurricane impact rated windows that are code in FL are expensive, but a pretty good thief deterrent. Possible to get through but with a whole lot of work and noise.
Pried the bottom corner of the shop door. I’m hoping insurance treats me right.

I’d go hit up every pawn shop in a ten mile radius. In my former career that’s where we found a lot of stolen tools, sporting goods and jewelry.

Man that sucks. I hope I never catch one in person because I will probably go to jail. I’m well healed most hours of the day and I’m pretty sure I’ll get in trouble!! That kinda crap pisses me off. Sorry for the rant.

Man to say I hate a thief is an understatement. This Makes my blood boil. What’s worse is that sorry ass POS has no idea what he’s taken. SOB gonna try n swap it for a $20 hit of dope to some other low life that’ll be out “sword fighting” in the street with the rods. 
Hopefully it’ll turn up in a local pawn shop and not be overly damaged.

So late yesterday I found some pictures I had taken of my fly boxes, open. Not surprisingly I had greatly underestimated the number (and value) of flies stolen. About $1K in flies alone (i had guessed $400), sent the pictures and updated valuations to the insurance co. last night.
Hopefully the insurance adjuster is also an angler!

I bet he’s not a citizen. Based on his mode of transportation, he’s probably not living too far away so maybe you’ll get lucky and find him. Maybe keep on the lookout for your items for sale online with a local point of sale.

Unfortunately, cops don’t seem to have time/interest/capacity to chase down small time criminals anymore. Not sure if its because they are understaffed (yes) or because they know judges are just going to let their catches walk.
When my truck and boat were stolen out of my driveway, we started doing some research on the crime in the area - turns out that there had been a rash of vehicle break ins and thefts recently - clearly fitting a common pattern - new crew working the area.
Found out that someone had an item stolen that had an air tag - they had tracked it to the theives house - turned all the info over to the cops - they never pursued it. When they found my truck, I shared all of this with the detective who was in charge of the case. No interest.
Those guys are still working this area.
