@VinnyL and I have been talking about getting out to fish for some time. So this week we made it happen. The plan was to arrive in Everglades City on Wednesday, fish my Waterman on Thursday, and then invite @rovster to come over with his Evo on Friday so the three of us could fish. Both Vinny and I have been itching to see Danny land his first tarpon so we hoped to make that happen. What a great time we had. Lot’s of stories and laughs, good food and fellowship. And, we caught a few fish! And Danny finally landed that first tarpon! He did a great job fighting the fish and bringing it to the skiff. Vinny learned to skip cast a bait into the mangroves and scored several very nice snook and tannin stained trout. I managed a few, even a 29"+ and then less than five minutes later a 30+" inch snook from the bow while I was yelling for Vinny to grab the landing net. It was raining sideways and cracking lightning at the time–all while Vinny was tightening an FG knot in his teeth with rod straight up in the air in the rod holder! Here’s a few pic’s from the trip, Thanks to both for the good time and memories!
Why don’t you tell the story of the first picture ?
That was a great couple of days. I really enjoyed sharing a skiff with you guys most importantly, watching Danny catch that Tarpon and your, two NICE Snook!
Nice report and good persistence on all accounts.
I want to know the story on the second photo. Is that blood stains on that shirt or some special Chocko mud?
Big congrats on the first tarpon!
So stoked it finally happened! Had a great time with great company. Love that pic of Vinny on the bow. Couple more little snook and a rat red from the trip…
Can’t wait to do it again!
Looks like fun! Except for lightning popping, I can do without the lightning
Great report as always!!
I wasn’t gonna rat Vinny out…you know, he is an Italian from Brooklyn! But since he asked…
Very early on the first day. I was poling a shallow flat,Vinny stalking from the casting platform. Boom! Hooks up a snook, steps back off the platform, slips (poor traction on those penny loafers), one foot into the cockpit, listing hard to the port side, almost head over heels into the drink! Still had the rod in his hand and landed the snook! I couldn’t laugh until I saw that he was alright and heard some choice sailor words!
Probably blood. We donated a pint each to the swamp angels.
Great report….. seems like lt’s been a great week of fishing in ENP!
Just realized I never sent these to Dave. Dave caught them during torrential downpours with lightning striking all around us.
Man overboard..again.. I’m starting to see a trend here with your trips.. Congrats fellas, looked like a great time.
Nice report!
Great report (as usual…) and I’m jonesing to get back down there myself (with or without anglers aboard..). I regularly point out that there’s no soft spot on any skiff if you take a tumble (another of those “ask me how I know” deals). Glad there weren’t any injuries..
Great report and fishing with good company!! Glad Danny finally connected, next on the list will be with the long rod!
ABSOFRICKINLUTELY!!!
@AlxAlonso welcome aboard Alex. Great to have you.
Always a seat available for ya on the Ghost
Next trip we’ll go way into the back…

Well done Dave and team…

Great report Dave. Finally had enough of the mosquitos and broke down and bought a mosquito jacket. I will let you know how it works out
Welcome over, @Lastcast ! Great to have you aboard!
