We’ve got BBQ, beans, bourbon, bees and skeeters - I’ve seen a lot of posts lately . . .
Does anyone actually fish on this forum? Let’s see some evidence. I don’t care when you caught it, but good gosh, we seem to talk about everything but what we primarily use our skiffs for.
Post up some pics, brag a little, great catches from a long time ago or catches from today - or just tell us you are GOING to go . . .
On a positive note, we all seem to be enjoying learning about one another on a personal level around here - it is kinda cool to see the wide range of common interests beyond the boats and fishing we do. . .
I tried to go on a dawn patrol but my fuel gremlin got the best of me. Planning on a couple wade trips until the skiff is out of the shop.
In the meantime, here is my personal best, a 50-pound bull caught on a topwater plug out of Oriental, NC, during a Grady-White 230 Coastal boat test. It was one of my favorite assignments ever.
Don’t have a skiff just yet, currently on the hunt for one. But here are some trout from a fly fishing trip a few weeks back with my boys. Caught near Brevard, NC.
@zika and @M.Austin - thanks for the kind words. I definitely married up - she’s an amazing woman. Met her because she knocked on my door in college as a total stranger and asked me to teach her and her boyfriend how to fish. The rest, as they say, is history.
Zika, it’s funny you posted that pic and story - for our anniversary, we’re going up to Oriental in early September and renting a place for a few days to do exactly that. There is nothing like the Neuse river and that is an awesome time of year.
Between the weather and a family crisis I have been unable to get out on the water the past two months. One short trip in the boat a couple of weeks ago and one short wadefishing trip. I’ll do better when the family thing gets resolved.
