@Birdyshooter @Hogprint @on_the_fly @CoffeeRun.Jeff @CapeFearFly @Joshvt @Goose and everyone else in the Cape Fear NC or SC area -
It looks like we’ll be blessed with phenomenal conditions - light winds, good strong tides, and minimal chance of storms - so we are OFFICIALLY on for tomorrow.
I can’t seem go get a good count, and since this is a trial run, I’m going to keep things simple and scratch trying to do hot dogs or anything else. If this goes well, we’ll do it up, but for this one, bring your own lunch, beverage, and cigar.
The plan: the official “Meet and Greet” time is 12:00-1:00 at Adventure island. Based on Orton Point tide predictions, that’s going to be a dead low -low tide, so you will likely have to approach from the shipping channel side
If you come from Snows cut or the state park, you may have to follow the channel south around the island south of Snow’s cut, then come back up via the shipping channel. The sandbars north of Snow’s Cut have gotten gnarly. You may be able to sneak around them following the docks on the Wilmington side if you know that route
I plan to fish from first light until 1130, then will make my way over. Look for my yellow boat, or feel free to text/call me (813-786-6668 - Gus) for updates or help navigating. We’ll just plan to “skiff up”, put faces to names, admire each other’s vessels, enjoy a beverage or two, lunch, and a cigar. It will last as long as it lasts and we can talk about future improvements too.
Also - if anyone in the area is between boats but would like to come, I MIGHT have an open spot on my boat tomorrow, so reach out privately and I can let you know!
I hope to see everyone there - but if you WON’T be there, do me a favor and let me know - I’d hate to be on that island all by myself !
