CAPE FEAR MEET AND GREET = Continued from "that other forum"

That’s the one, @Goose ! I think it will likely be our official spot -just need to get out and put feet on it.

@Hogprint - I think you nailed it with that ramp on river road - it requires a small skiff and a LOW trailer. I have a buddy with a gheenoe, but his trailer sits so high he has to walk it out to get to depth.

Fellas! Excited to hear as my coworkers didn’t take the “bait” for swapping out a shift on the 19th; so, see ya on the 21st! I may do a dry run or two out to that island from x2 separate ramps as I’ve only launched from Dram Tree. Off the next three days and am troubleshooting a fuel issue ATM, but if not this week the next. As @Hogprint said, that River Road ramp and parking is sketch at times. I’ve only visited (with the boat) at low tide… and forget it. She has a narrow beam at waterline so isn’t the shallowest and despite 2 stroke Yami squats low in the water. You’re talking knee high water at best at 75-100’ out from the dirt ramp at low tide. FWIW. @MaverickMA sending personal details now.

Gentlemen, we are a week away - doing a role call -

Who is planning on meeting up at Adventure island on the cape fear river? Plan on meeting up around 12ish.

If you want to come but are between boats, chime in and we may have someone who can play taxi!

I’ll be there with bells on. May have one or two more skiffs coming, guys who arnt on here.

Looking forward to meeting you! Glad you are bringing some friends! Shoot me a PM with your contact info if you want - may make it easier to coordinate the day of

I’ll be there. I’ll have 2 project healing water guys with me. I’ll be putting in at Southport then make my way up for the 12:00 meet and greet. Looks like a wild swing of a day.

@Birdyshooter - that looks like a good day - we’ll get some nice flow!

All - be aware that the river tides may be different and usually later than what you see for CB or Southport!

If you indicate Zeke’s island on your favorite tide app, you can get a bit closer estimate to the tides around the west side of snows cut.

I’m going to try to stop by for an hour or so for the meetup. Not sure if I’m going to be able to get out for the morning of fishing.

@Birdyshooter @Hogprint @on_the_fly @CoffeeRun.Jeff @CapeFearFly @Joshvt @Goose and everyone else in the Cape Fear NC or SC area -

It looks like we’ll be blessed with phenomenal conditions - light winds, good strong tides, and minimal chance of storms - so we are OFFICIALLY on for tomorrow.

I can’t seem go get a good count, and since this is a trial run, I’m going to keep things simple and scratch trying to do hot dogs or anything else. If this goes well, we’ll do it up, but for this one, bring your own lunch, beverage, and cigar.

The plan: the official “Meet and Greet” time is 12:00-1:00 at Adventure island. Based on Orton Point tide predictions, that’s going to be a dead low -low tide, so you will likely have to approach from the shipping channel side

If you come from Snows cut or the state park, you may have to follow the channel south around the island south of Snow’s cut, then come back up via the shipping channel. The sandbars north of Snow’s Cut have gotten gnarly. You may be able to sneak around them following the docks on the Wilmington side if you know that route

I plan to fish from first light until 1130, then will make my way over. Look for my yellow boat, or feel free to text/call me (813-786-6668 - Gus) for updates or help navigating. We’ll just plan to “skiff up”, put faces to names, admire each other’s vessels, enjoy a beverage or two, lunch, and a cigar. It will last as long as it lasts and we can talk about future improvements too.

Also - if anyone in the area is between boats but would like to come, I MIGHT have an open spot on my boat tomorrow, so reach out privately and I can let you know!

I hope to see everyone there - but if you WON’T be there, do me a favor and let me know - I’d hate to be on that island all by myself !
