Was using food grade silicone once liquid rollers was discontinued and that was just ok. Recently redid the carpet on my bunks and sprayed boat bunk wax spray and had an incredible experience. The boat slides off with no effort. Granted I have new carpet but so far the bunk wax spray has performed very well. Probably need to spray less next time actually.
My Shallow Sport has always been difficult to launch off the trailer without backing the tires of the tow vehicle down into the water. Went fishing yesterday and sprayed some SLYDZ On, on my bunks when we got back to the ramp. Let it dry 30 minutes and then loaded to boat. If the ease of loading is any indication, I will need to be careful launching the boat next time. The boat eased all the way up with just the momentum and just a tad of throttle (before I would have to apply quite a bit of throttle to get it all the way on the trailer).
Now, I ought to be able to load it in neutral combined with a strong fart….
@VinnyL i used gulf wax as well, and in the summer time it’s ok, but in the winter time it almost acts like glue it seems. My boat bottom is also Graphite/epoxy so it “should” be even slicker, but the wax just wasn’t cutting it. Silicone spray, albeit toxic, works. I put one application on back towards the beginning of the year, and I can still push the boat off the trailer, on flat ground with ease if I wanted to. It’s almost to slick.
@MikeCockman
Last winter my skiff was on a lift in my basin. The basin is being rebuilt so my skiffs on her trailer. The wax is still working but if I have a problem I’ll
Try my food grade silicone. Thanks for the info.
