Bennett trim tab conversion. UPDATED O-Ring replacement

NOTE: This was a post I did on the other site before I swapped to Lectrotabs. But good info non the less.

Came out this morning to find my port tab cylinder is weeping. Boat has sat for a few weeks and I’m just not noticing it. Trying to decide if I just replace the cylinder and while at it do the starboard side or swap to the Bennett hydronic to electrical conversion kit. I’m not interested in going with Lencos. Just looking for feedback from folks who have swapped or use the Bennett electric version.

This is the kit I’m considering. Looks like I use all my current wiring, just remove the hydraulics and replace with electric.

UPDATE:

It took about an hour and a half, (I work slow sometimes), to remove and replace both o-rings on both trim tabs. Total cost was $13.50 for the o-rings available on AMAZON and 1-quart of ATF, about $8.00.

I found and basically followed the process similar to this YouTube Video. It’s pretty easy to do with some basic tools. No leaks and I’m back on the water…
