39 years old and she got slimed again

This is my 8’6” Seaworthy boat that my parents bought me in 1986. I spent many hours in it as a teenager tearing around the Banana River with a 6Hp Evinrude that I still own. Caught fish, went camping on uninhabitable islands, and ran some crab traps out of her.

For the last two decades she has not had a ton of use but I refuse to get rid of her. She made the move to Atlanta and back to Florida with us. I did sand down the bottom and brush on some new gel coat a few years ago and now she gets use on our neighborhood lake. She shows her age but still no leaks. Super stable but she has gotten a little tippy as we have gained a few pounds over our time together. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:. We have a trolling Motor on her in the lake because no gas engines allowed.

Well today my teenage son took her out with a friend and finally caught a fish in her. He has caught fish in other boats with me but he had never caught one in her. Today he caught two largemouth bass and decided to take her out again tonight for the second time today to get some more. It was a happy day for me.

Decided To share a few photos of her from a recent pressure wash to the catch earlier today.

That’s awesome seeing something saved and put back to use. Great story and pictures.

Man, that is to cool. Love the history behind it, and to see it come full circle has to be very rewarding for you.

Great story, passing it down to the next generation. That’s awesome!

In a time where everything is bought new and treated as disposable, this is the kind of story that gives hope for the next generation. Your son will appreciate “classic” in a way many of his peers will not.

Great story. Also looks like a cool platform for getting in tight spots. Looks stable

Remember she is only 8-1/2 feet long so she is definitely tippy with two people in her.
