Man, thay is amazing work for a “learn as you go” backyarder. I am always amazed at the condition folks let gems like this get to. Always makes me happy to see a classic restored!

Better than new now. If only owners would maintain a skiff from the first day. Owning a boat is a personal long term commitment. If everyone took care of their boats like it was an airplane so it would not fall out of the sky ……well then there would not be rebuilds as perfect as this one. Well done

@Salt Thank you.

@DBStoots Thank you, I am.

@MaverickMA Thank you, yes it amazes me too. But I was happy to get my hands on her for sure.

@Chris_Morejohn Thank you Chris, obviously means allot hearing from everyone but possible a little more from you. I agree if people would just take care of these skiff from the jump. But for a 24 yo skiff 14 of them sitting in a backyard getting drenched with rain, beaten by the sun, mice living in it, her bones were solid as a rock. So many other boats I’ve redone were not this solid at all.

Thanks Bart.

I love seeing a post like this with before and after pictures to see the condition it was in and what all went into it. I don’t know how someone could neglect a whipray but it looks like it found the right hands to appreciate and cherish her. You did a wonderful job and I really dig the colors you chose as others have mentioned. I hope it takes you on many explorations and gets you on some fish!

You said you couldn’t farm out the work to pros but the final results are saying you didn’t need to. Beautiful work and I love the color combo.

HJK: Had a good laugh. A poser, or maybe not, posted on the old forum, looking for an old center console Whipray 16. I thought of your project to reassurect(sp?) your yard find. Gee, if you hadn’t ruined that old Whip by taking out the kluge console, you might have made a big sale! Hope you’re enjoying that boat. You did a fine job. TJ

Dayum, great job!

@TexasJim LMAO, thanks I’m definitely enjoying her. This is my first tiller boat that in and of itself takes some real getting use to. Grew up here in Corpus Christi learning in Stoner, and Majek CC’s. But honestly I don’t regret one bit putting this ole girl back to original. I know I’ll get the hang of it and so far her performance is like nothing I’ve ever experienced.
