Working Together to Keep the Forum Positive

Keeping Our Community Positive

As our forum grows in popularity, it becomes even more important that we all work together to keep this space positive, welcoming, and useful. This community doesn’t belong to just one person, it belongs to all of us. Every member has the power and responsibility to guide conversations, encourage supportive posts, and take action when something doesn’t fit the spirit of SkiffHQ.

Since moderators are not available 24/7, the community itself plays an essential role in keeping an eye on things. By stepping in when needed, members help ensure this forum remains safe, respectful, and aligned with our mission even when staff aren’t online. This shared responsibility is what makes a growing community strong.

The strength of our community comes from you, its members. By choosing to contribute positively, staying focused on the topics at hand, and using the tools available to address problems, we ensure this forum remains a place worth returning to.

Using Flags as a Community Tool

Flags are not about punishment—they are about protecting the place we’ve built together. Every time you flag a post, you’re helping keep our discussions focused, respectful, and worth participating in.

Think of flags as a way for the community to guide itself. Instead of engaging with negativity, simply flag it so moderators can step in. This lets us avoid conflict while still holding each other accountable.

Types of flags you can use:

  • Off-Topic – The post doesn’t belong in the current discussion and should be moved elsewhere.
  • Inappropriate – The post contains content that is offensive, disrespectful, or against our community guidelines.
  • Spam – The post is an advertisement, vandalism, or irrelevant clutter.
  • Illegal – The post contains material that you believe is unlawful and needs immediate staff attention.
  • Something Else – Any other concern not covered above; you can explain the issue directly to moderators.

When members use flags consistently, it creates a culture where positivity is the norm. It shows that we care about the quality of our community, and that we’re committed to keeping this forum a place we’re all proud to be part of.

Where Are the Flags?

At the bottom of each post you’ll see either a flag icon or three dots (an ellipsis: ).

Click on the flag or the ellipsis to open the flag menu. From there you can select the reason for the flag—Off-Topic, Inappropriate, Spam, Illegal, or Something Else. Once submitted, moderators will review the post.

Note: If you select the option to discuss directly with the user, that private message thread will also be visible to site moderators.

Shared Responsibility

Moderators help guide the community, but they can’t be here all the time. That’s why every member has a role in looking after the forum. By choosing to flag instead of arguing, you help prevent negativity from spreading and give moderators clear signals about where attention is needed.

The more we grow, the more important this becomes. A healthy community isn’t built on constant oversight—it’s built on members caring enough to step in when something isn’t right. Together, we can ensure this forum reflects the values and mission we share.

Our community has the power to shape this forum. Let’s use it to keep this place positive, supportive, and valuable for everyone.
