What’s your favorite fly fishing video?

Billy Pate’s videos he did with 3M are still up on YouTube and they’re really pretty amazing - and especially for you younger guys — they give you an idea of what Tarpon fishing was like back in the day.

And the greatest advice ever given: “Listen to your guide”.

Christian’s cinematography level is unreal. Always look forward to his proper edits.

He’s gotten really good. My son and I watch all his videos.

But who is the dork narrating in the beginning?

Really like Billy’s casting platform - way ahead of its time.

No skiff, no salt. But man, cool.

Tod Moen again.

Maybe it’s a harsh take, or I have an off opinion but the bulk of videos try to go too deep or sappy in the narrative/story telling.

Give me rough edits, hype music, and fish action. Most of the older world angling videos were near perfection to me.

Not harsh, it’s just your opinion and not strange because we aren’t all the same! I like both and can appreciate a good story line but also the quick, rough videos with no music or editing will always have their place.

My first reaction to your comment was to disagree - but then I read your last line about the older world videos.

Walker’s Cay had the perfect balance (IMHO) of narration and action, especially the early ones. Don’t get me wrong, all action and great music is awesome too (that trout one above your post is one I could watch 100 times over).

There is such a thing as too much story line. Love the Wild Fly videos, but man, there’s a whole lot of talking and set up, and not a bunch of fish catching in some of them!
