This my project boat. I seen a tracker backcountry one time and going try to turn this into a version of that. That’s the basic idea anyway. Got the rotten transom wood out and work my way forward from there. Lots of work to do but I like to tinker
Nice, I can’t wait to see it unfold. ![]()
Cool. A Bass Tracker 16 was my first boat. Had to check that the bilge was working reguarly, or you risked sinking. Every rivet on that boat leaked. That mutha caught fish though!
Looking forward to what ya do with it!!
That outta be a cool lil platform once finished. Keep us posted and thanks for sharing.
@JimmySmith has one (Tracker Backcountry Flip Pallot Edition) in his yard he’s giving me one of these days…
@Butch - does that hull have any pinholes/ galvanic corrosion breaches? If so, curious about how you plan to address.
Yes, check in with @JimmySmith for OEM layout.
I’ve got a buddy in Monterey that does some welding work if you need some. Look forward to seeing your build.
@MaverickMA Surprisingly no. I filled it with water and had one rivet leak that I mashed back down with two hammers and coated with JB weld on the inside and out. There is some light corrosion on the transom behind the plywood but I’ll and and repaint. The rough part was drilling out the rivets to get all the brackets holding the plywood in.
@Tarponhead I for sure will be putting in a bilge pump in the back. I had a venture bass boat had one of those live well pumps that had a threaded fitting that went through the hull. It met a stump and pump got me back to the ramp safely.![]()
Man those are such cool and fun boats. I fished out of one a lot around 25 years ago and caught a ton of fish - it floated in spit. I caught my personal best black bass out of it. Good luck with the restore.
Hey, that shows your smart enough to make sure the bilge pump works!
Its gonna be a nice boat!
Heck yeah!! ![]()
When I was hunting skiffs a while back, I really wanted a Flip edition. I even reached out to Tracker to see if they could still fabricate one. They apparently have no desire to do so. Such a shame, they could make a killing in my opinion.
You can probably find an aluminum hull that matches dimensions and have it customized to the same or better for cheaper than a pre-fab hull.
