Tohatsu rules, week 8 no skiff

I agree. Dang waning super moon king tide thing has the fish and fishermen all lockjawed up. Maybe my inner hippie coming out but moon phase has a lot to do with animal behavior. Fall rut is starting too and cool weather moving in, makes me want to start chasing some does myself.

Why has this gone downhill? He made a post, questions are asked. Little info has been given. We are just curious on the answers and why it happened.

The first one was a first generation 60 , crank shaft bearing went out “known issue” at 480 hours. Replaced it with a white one , I believe that one is still on my beavertail The 60 on my fly cracked a piston in under 300 hours. I run non tunnels with jack plates , I only use the jack plates in late January, and February on negative tides. I mostly use them for the set back , I like to have a 2”-3” set back on non sponson skiffs, they just tent to handle better. I’m an outboard mechanic on the side, so my maintenance is always top notch. You can ask any of my clients about how my skiffs are maintained. I’m done with tohatsu , maybe I just ended up with 2 bad ones. But it’s way easier for me to own a Yamaha due to the amount of local support.

No excuses. Well I hate you had the troubles and I hope you have good luck with the yamaha if thats what you go with. You can always put a jack plate on a jack plate to get your height right like the guy on the “worlds shallowest tunnel hull" video.

I wish I had her back, I’ve been poling a Hpx 18 with a 150 every day.

Thank you. It sounds like you’ve had some bad luck since you had different issues with each. That’s about the same luck I’ve had with Mercs in the past. Good luck with the yamaha.
