Tohatsu 30s Back ordered until Nov-Dec (WTB)

I called around getting prices a few weeks back for a Tohatsu 30 with the big tiller handle and it seemed like every dealer could get one within a few days. So I listed my Tohatsu 50, sold it, and now the 30’s are back ordered for a few months.

I found one in Lake City and one in Pensacola, but when I went to look at them they have the standard tiller, but with a tilt trim switch located on the main arm.

So long story short. I am looking for a new or slightly used Tohatsu 30 short shaft with PTT and the multi function tiller if anyone knows where one is.

@RockyG just re-powered his Sea Ark with a Tohatsu and used this guy just outside Bainbridge, GA. He was very happy with the price and experience. He might have one?

Tohatsu’s are hot garbage anyway. Waiting on a new powerhead as we speak.

Sorry you had an issue, but not many will share your opinion. Tohatsu’s have a very proven track record going back decades. Mine has been flawless.

OP, try Citrus marine in Homosassa. When everyone was on a 6 month back order they were able to get me my 60hp a few years back.

Look into a Yamaha f25…

That’s good advice - the Yamaha 25 hp is a fantastic engine. And you can mod it to get 30 hp out of it, but of course there is a cost and you could argue if that extra 5 hp will make a difference.

How do you mod the F25 and do you know someone that has taken the F25 to 30hp?

Screen shot your Tohatsu engine hours

Trouble free engine hours on four strokes 60hp and below. Why some people keep equipment problems secret? One of the best reasons for a forum without corporate white wash. I have made many bad choices in equipment for the wrong reasons and I will tell people about it. Some listen. Some don’t.

Who are you referring to?

I have a 2025 30hp tohatsu and know a few others running one. It’s a great motor and the lightest in its class. Don’t let opinions detour you

While not having done one personally, Fuel and air is all! I’ve been wrenching and tuning for over 30 years and all it takes for HP is more fuel and air. On modern electronic fuel injected engine 5hp can be had with the removal of a restrictor donut used on some engines or a few clicks of a mouse on others. It truly is that simple, a 5 hp gain is not witchcraft.

I’ve only spent $30k on tohatsu’s, this is my last one. Sorry that my opinion differs.

480 on the 1st one , 360 on the second one “still running “

280 on the current one that’s been waiting on a powerhead for a month.

I know someone that runs the Yamaha 25hp at my recommendation and they love it. They haven’t ran a mod because it’s under warranty. But there are after markets out there:

But price per HP gain for the mod is up there. $600 for 5 hp when compared to chip mods on other HP engines that get 10 to 15 hp for the same price.

That is wild.

Yea, I had a 25 2-stroke originally and it ran fine.

Yea, this will be my 3rd one. I had a TLDI 40, it was great. Then got 4 stroke fever after fishing on my buddies rig and went up to a 50 4 stroke (because same weight why not right?) Way, Way over powered.

To me its between the 30 Tohatsu and the 30 Zuke. I need a short shaft. I like the Tohatsu multi function tiller arm much better than the Zuke.
