I saw this on facebook. Man it’s heartbreaking to see someone’s skiff get taken and sunk.

That’s simply sad.

I guess someone didn’t want to wait over a year for a build spot.

Too soon?

That is sad - I’d like to know more details about it. I fish that area and have been concerned about my skiff at night, but do my best to secure everything I can.

Terrible.

That aside, shouldn’t it have floatation to prevent sinking so deep?

Yep, some people don’t deserve to breathe our air…TJ

Thieves and liars neither one should exist!

They used to be able to get a shallow water exemption from the coast guard like most mud motor boats. Now that has been discontinued, and everyone has to have modified level floatation. I have no clue if that meant they put no foam, minimal foam, or just as close to requirements as they could without adjusting the layout during that period. If they didn’t discontinue the exemption I’d most likely be doing the same thing on my boats. 15 cubic ft of foam is not super easy to stash in an aluminum boat haha.

Hate to see a thief. Also don’t understand the whole “stolen and dumped a mile away” mindset. . seems like all the risk and zero reward.

Thanks Bob.

The thieves didn’t realize how loud the Tohatsu would be and ditched it to save their hearing

Wow. I wonder what dictated the decision to sink it. I would think most thieves steal with the intention of selling for a quick buck.

Reasoning skills aren’t the strong personality trait of a thief. Who knows, maybe he freaked out and thought sinking it would be a way to possibly not get caught after having a change of heart.
