Starlink To The RESCUE & Power Pole Tech Todd

So,

We get on the water at 0700 and I go to check the PP Move and I notice I’m getting an A3 error on my console mount.

I deploy the PP at the dock and it runs, but does not steer :frowning:

Tide was pouring out so I decided to head out and I figured I’d call PP at 0815 when they open.

Got on the phone, using my STARLINK WIFI calling and Todd answers…

He explains it probably a loose wire inside the connection box…so, with a Phillips screwdriver we took off the side panels and lifted the cover and beneath there was a connection box..

Opened the connection box and then tightened down the two screws, it then, fired right back up trip saved…

Total repair about 20 minutes…trying not to drop things in the water was a challenge

Back fishing, all good

STARLINK WAS AMAZING…WHEN WE CAUGHT THE REDS IN MY CHOKOLOSKEE POST, I CALLED ALL MY BUD’S ON FACETIME AND SHOWED THEM WHAT THEY WERE MISSING.

Yep, just got back from elk hunting at our ranch in New Mexico. Absolutely no cell service there. Been hunting there close to 20 years. We set up Starlink this year and had full service, both phone and internet. Not sure if that is a blessing or curse but it worked great. Up until now, we have been using Garmin InReach for communication.

It’s really about an emergency for me…or, if I’m remote and need to take a business call, I can stop and take if absolutely necessary…Since I run a consulting business in my real life, I write it off as a backup to my home internet that on more than one occasion has gone down on me…I must have internet to do my job…

For those with kids and travel…I’ve set the Starlink of my DASH and was able to stream Youtube or other applications while driving…the kids can be entertained on a long trip…if that’s how you roll.

I agree. Most of the time I don’t hook up to it so that I don’t have to listen to phone. My brother uses it more than anybody for work purposes. He used to have to drive a considerable amount of time to check emails. I can see the advantages also. My father is near 80 and he goes with us. Of course the Garmin has SOS capabilities but this gives us peace of mind if needed. It’s the world we live in now. I’m still old school and have no Facebook, Instagram or any of that but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Capt,

Where/how is it mounted? Thanks

I carry it in a waterproof case…when I need it, I take it out and point it north.

Just took it with me to a business meeting at a raw bar in FLL…opened the case, starlink comes up…I’m streaming no issues with local restaurant internet.

See my post earlier on the set up.
