There are some people out there calling themselves “coaches” and not captains…yep, makes me upset as I, like many of you here on the forum, have put in alot of hours and $$$ for our licenses…

GREAT IDEA…
I think we should all put this on our WEBSITES and then place a statement for potential clients to ask any GUIDE they are considering to show them their numbers.
The problem is, in the ENP, I hold two licenses, one for photography and one for fishing and they failed to place my information on their databases.
You can go to the ENP site and it “supposedly” has an updated list…my license was not displayed until I notified them.

Texas MMC was a small orange booklet when I got it in 2018 and when I renewed recently I got a big piece of plastic that is supposed to be folded up and kept in the boat. I have no problem showing my clients my card if they need to verify I am legal. This should be standard practice for charters in my opinion.
We get stickers that are required to be affixed to the console in FLA.

Damn we got dudes bragging about being drone pilots now?
A lot of great photography and video in the fishing industry is captured with Drones.

people who use them to find fish …… shouldn’t fish.
Totally agree…well said…
The incident off Tampa with the guys flying bait out to Tarpon was horrific.
I like when they post a drone video of them casting to a fish and it eating but everyone pretends they don’t know what really happened…dudes just like it, give a sweet little comment and no one calls it out. If you do point it out you get blasted by the minions.
There was a whole YT video with a couple of guides wearing a set of drone goggles and using a drone to spot and cast to big snook with topwaters in the Everglades a while back and I think they took it down.
Yep, FEDERAL offense - FAA no fly zone if you are in the park…in most cases, you can’t even take off as you’d be GEO locked. There are software programs you can determine where to fly - ALOFT is one of the more popular…it outlines specific flight zones and heights that you are allowed to fly.
I’ve flown the beaches outside the park on the Northern 10k’s just outside the park…Not to locate snook, just to have a few drone shots from above. There are a couple of drone pilots on Instagram who fly daily and post the mullet run and other marine activity up in Jupiter area…Paul Debill does a nice job both in the air and below using his underwater equipment diving.
You do have to be careful…a few of the larger birds of prey will attack your drone.

I have a DJI Air2S I fly now and then with my son but haven’t taken it anywhere because I don’t want to get fined. I bought it to shoot skiff videos but then realized I had to get the certification so I will probably sell it.
It’s a great learning experience for your son to study for the test…I think you have to be 16 y/o - need to go back and look for the regulations, to get his pilot’s license.
The course uses the same info as a private pilots license. It teaches you alot of the same information as that on a USCG exam…direction, weather conditions, etc. If you don’t want to spend money on a private course, there are numerous free videos on YouTube for each section and it’s taught from the same information as the documents found on the CFR107 website…there’s a few on-line courses that are relatively inexpensive.
Could be a fun father son project…
BTW, classic DJI Air2s…nice little UAV.

I bought all the books and once I realized how much red tape and BS was involved I gave up on it. This was probably 2-3 years ago when the Air2S was still decent. It seems like as soon as you get used to one it’s obsolete. I’d probably have a malfunction and crash in the water on the first flight so now it’s just for fun flying around the ranch. I’m just outside the airport no-fly zone.
