Recommendation: Balzout mount for Simrad 9”

Looking for input on what size arm for a Balzout mount on a HB Pro center console with a Simrad 9”. Im thinking of a 4”. Is there any reason I would want a larger one? Obviously trying to do this once.

I think mine was a 4" when I had a Professional. It’s a great product. Do you have a grab rail around the top of the console? The only reason I can imagine wanting a longer arm is if you might want to move the MFD towards the helm so you could see better from the poling platform.

Good point. Thanks for the experienced input. No grab rail. Im with you, cant think of a reason, but trying to avoId that oh sh*t moment.

You’re in luck, I removed my Lowrance Elite FS9 before taking my skiff in for a 300 hour service and will be re- installing it today. Pretty sure I’m on a 4” rise, but will measure it… Here’s a pic

Remember, before you do your install check every dimension for clearance not just where you want to install it but whether there’s any conflict with shift / throttle, steering wheel, etc - from where you’ll be sitting or standing when running it…

Here is my set up, it’s compact and solid.

Yes, I agree, thanks. The pictures help too

That looks like a 4”, is it? Thanks

I got a GO7 that quit working if some wants it for free. Im sure is a board issue. I see them for sale on Ebay nonworking. The screen is not broken, so if your unit works, you should be able to switch screens out. Its not hard, just delicate work.

Yes sir, 4”

I have a four inch rise as well - it allows the bottom of my machine to be five inches above the console with the ability to raise it almost another two inches… Here are some pics from yesterday to illustrate..

base unit with machine removed… I have a small console with little room (1988 Maverick).

mounted in place - make sure to use Tef Gel (aluminum knobs on stainless bolts - stop corrosion before it starts…). Entire unit if five inches above console with only a four inch riser…

This pic shows the shift throttle all the way forward with almost two inches of clearance with chartplotter (enough so that your hand is never touching at any speed…

Hope this helps
