Panga

The cargo carrying capacity of the Panga hull design is amazing.

Looks tippy!

Not missle proof or unsinkable though

2 strokes?

One washed up here, we’re trying to figure out how to retrieve it

That’s gotta be a joy to pole.

With tripple OX66s, pushing that “cargo”….. half (or more of) the load has gotta be fuel!

They don’t need much fuel, the run is much shorter these days  :anger_symbol::collision:

And id be real careful about handling a Panga that’s had drugs in it, some of that stuff is so strong just touching it can mess you up or even kill you, that’s why you see the cops wearing rubber gloves when they are involved with a drug bust!

The Coast Guard station in South Padre Island usually has 30 to 50 Pangas in the confiscation lot, waiting to be crushed, so they say. Lots of big Yamaha 2-strokes. TJ

Let them old Yami’s eat son!

Such a waste  they could be auctioned off and the money raised used for something useful! Instead of putting all that crushed fiberglass in the landfill :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I agree Silent-Drifter, but I saw a Coastie video and the guy said they crush them. It’s hard to believe they wouldn’t auction the engines, though. My Google Maps view shows about thirty-five Pangas, and they appear to still have engines. They catch Mexicans with maybe 400 Red Snappers aboard all the time. Don’t know what happens to the fish? I was aboard a TPWD warden boat there, and they had a real big cobia. I asked them where they found that, and they said it came off a confiscated Panga the day before. Hmmm. TJ
