Old tackle boxes

I haven’t used it for fishing tackle in decades, but my first tackle box has served me faithfully in some capacity for 50 years. Anyone else got an old one?

Nothin worse than grabbing the handle and discovering the catch isn’t latched.

In 50 years, Ive never seen a padlock :locked: on one of these. :joy:

Got one just like it. I use it for holding my tackle for farm pond fishing…

Years ago, many years ago I remember lending a box just like that to my nephew along with some rods/reels etc.. He had the stuff for a season, when I went to pick it all up, I left it. The box was a block of rust and you literally can see the salt built up on my rods/reels. I never allowed him to borrow my gear again.

This is dad’s old box. He would hook us up with bobbers and worms, Until we ran out of worms , then we would just use bobbers and hooks, he always used a fly rod.

When he got his first fiberglass rod and put away the bamboo ones with great pleasure. He said you tend to break them and you can throw the fiberglass ones out, but it’s hard to repair the bamboo.

I’m sure they were all purchased at garage sales.

My grandfather had a metal one like that!

I have a really cool antique tackle box that I believe is a Kennedy. I’ll dig it out and post photos of it and the old lures that came in it. Back in the early 2000’s I was working at an older man’s house and he gave it to me after we got on the topic of fishing.

Here’s mine from when I was growing up. Can’t remember exactly when I received it as gift from parents.
