about to throw my 12 degree 100% carbon mangrove on the used market in the coming weeks. While it’s absolutely mint, garage kept, and could pass as a 2025 (less than 300 hrs on the F70), I’m wondering how you guys value and appropriately depreciate these high end skiff machines? Although I didn’t get superfluous options, I certainly didn’t spare any expense when building… for instance, it has carbon tabs and a carbon console door, even upgraded non-stock lithium batteries, multiple props etc, PowerPux on both bow and stern, powerpole and two tone medium gray trim that sits atop a raptor coated aluminum ramlin. Hal to this day, still says it’s “the prettiest boat they’ve ever built.” Probably because it’s been garage kept and always smells like I use too much Woody’s wax…which may or may not be true.
I guess I’m just curious how other sellers recently have come up with a reasonable market price? I have my inclination, but I wanted to hear from the masses before I put everything live in the coming weeks.
As I’m sure many can attest, I’ve got this skiff exactly the way I want it, so I’m incredibly reluctant to sell, but have realized my fishing style and maritime commute lends itself better to a 115 build, so moving to that in the coming months.
Would appreciate any feedback I could get either below or offline.
Beautiful boat. Not sure this is the best way, but a good search online and in boat trader would be my starting point. Get some comparables and then price slightly above after adjusting for features/ hours.
Then negotiate to the desired amount.
My understanding is there are a large amount of high end skiffs for sale right now, so supply is high and demand is just not there.
I am only a casual observer of the skiff market however, so not at all in the industry to give a qualified opinion.
Another silly thing. For a posh skiff like that, I probably wouldn’t post pics of it with dogs on board. I personally wouldn’t care… but I know enough OCD people who would be scouring every inch for pup induced damages. Toenail scratches in any soft surfaces or areas a pup might have teethed on.
I doubt there are any issues, but some people act like their skiffs are museum pieces instead of work tools!
Maybe I missed it, but did you list the year of the boat?
If you’re going to buy another Chittum with a 115 I would give the Boat to Chittum and ask them to sell it, it’s in their favor to sell it for as much as they can.
But depending on the year will determine price now. If the boat is five years old, probably try selling it for what you paid for it. Does the engine still have warranty? Is that transferable?
I was thinking same, three dogs on that skiff, ouch my Redfisher had two shorthairs on all the time, and yup they marked it up, however wouldn’t trade my time with them.
I would assume he wants top price for that skiff , inferring that he said it looks like a 2025. Beautiful rig, for sure.
You decided to buy new, but if there had been a boat in exactly the condition of yours, what percentage of the new price would you have been willing to pay?
I’ve been on a lot of boat and car forums and I have never seen these what is my insert high end object name here worth threads go well for anyone. We don’t know all the options you have on it, we don’t know how much you paid for it, or even how old it is or even if you really want to sell it.
Asking your potential buyer pool what something is worth is likely your not going to get a solid answer because even if they were in the market they don’t want to shoot themselves in the foot paying to much if you were thinking 10 grand less, or the inverse they say 30 grand and your like no friggin way go die in a fire.
It’s probably best if your serious to call chittum and ask them, look at facebook marketplace, or look at boat trader, or the other old forum and see what’s the going rate rather then make us do your homework for you.
