Was passing through the area on June 21st. Water level was about 900 cfs. Very wide river. Wading the shoals is tricky but possible. Caught 4 smallmouth in a couple of hours, all on clousers in large eddies within the shoals. There are a couple of great fly shops in downtown Bryson City if you need any advice or supplies.

fishing there sounds fun , but right now i would just lay down in that mountain water !
Nice report, was up in Maggie Valley/Bryson City area last month and had a great time. Trout cooperated pretty well!
