Lithium again....for golf carts

Folks, looking for some feedback and/or wisdom on converting the golf cart battery. We have a Club Car with a 6 x 8v lead/acid battery; one battery is bad at this point. The stupid thinks are pretty expensive and, like for our skiffs, the Li prices are great. I see many drop in options for a 48-ish volt battery, with charger and BMS. Any experience out there? Pros/cons? DC volts are DC volts, right? TIA

Not personal experience but folks like Epoch products - 48V 90Ah Golf Cart LiFePO4 Lithium Battery - Complete Kit

Just converted my club car with LiTime 48v kit. Included battery, charger, meter and mounting hardware. Worked out well so far.

Thanks Tod. I’ll try to get up that way and take a look soon, if that works out. M

Converted my mom’s Yamaha 36v to a Chins lithium about 5 months ago. No problems so far. I also bought a golf cart to flip and used the same battery for it. A lot of guys like the DCHouse batteries as well. LiTime would be another good option. And yes, lithium batteries are comparable cost wise to lead acid these days.

I converted my EzGo TXT from 36v to 48v and went to the Eco Battery 105ah over a year ago. Easy conversion and huge increase in performance, and a battery that seems to go forever. Very happy with that purchase. LiTime do not have a golf cart battery solution at that time or I might have considered. I’ve been happy with the 12v for my skiff.

I’m interested in converting my 48v club car too. Is it really as simple as just plug in the new battery and go? Since the LiTime has Bluetooth I don’t even think I will use a gauge.

It appears to be pretty simple…watching some vids. Remove old, put in new, along with the new charger. A full on install would consider replacing the charging port and installing a charge gauge in the dash.

That’s what I’ve seen on videos too, but man it seems to simple. Pop in a cheaper battery, getting more run time and a few hundred pounds of less weight. I’m skeptical of anything that eady, lol.

I swapped the electronics and motor in mine. Was looking for a significant increase in top speed…

OK folks, I ordered a 48v 100 A-hr lithium from LiTime, with the charger and display. Also a 48 to 12 vdc converter for the lights from Amaz. I’ll keep you posted on the install and any issues that I find. M

I can’t remember if it is just with the ezgo or would be the same for other models, but there is a wire going to the old charging port that must be routed straight to the battery after the mod. This wire is there to prevent being able to drive the cart while it is being charged. Note that after you do the conversion, the car will be able to be powered with it charging, but you can route the charging cord or extension cord through the steering wheel to hopefully remind someone not to try to drive it while it is still charging. Otherwise, it is really that simple.

Thanks for that. Yeah the Club Car has a switch for Run or Tow. That sort of does the same thing.

Finished my install today. LiTime 48v 105a-hr. A dc-dc converter for the lights, a charger, and a battery gauge. My model does not have app compatibility which would have been nice. Install was straight forward after watching a few videos. Happy to share my experience and will let everyone know if anything comes up. M
