Both weedguards work, but we fish heavy Spartina grass up here in NEFL and I have found the best results when using double weedguards forming a V.
I use 25 pound ande mono and make the strands about 1/4 to 3/8 inch beyond hookpoint.
But I don’t like the v guard too far or too close from the hook point (I guess I am like Goldilocks that way) which is where jig hooks get to me.
