So if you ain’t got nothing to do…
On the way…
That’s too bad. Makes me sick to see trees hammered like that. Be careful and stay hydrated.
Aw man! At least in middle Georgia they are showing high 80s tomorrow which will be a little bit of a break from the heat.
I just looked at the radar and it looks like that nasty stuff is moving our way tonight.
Ugh.
Not as bad as I first thought. Middle section broke and fell toward the house. The tips hit the roof but no roof damage. It did take out a bird feeder and concrete bird bath, but mainly just a mess to clean up. It ain’t going nowhere or causing any more damage, I’ll get to it after our cool front this weekend. Temp yesterday was a toasty 101, index about 112-115. High temp Friday in high 70’s. I’ll wait.
I’ll be doing the same, we lost a Bradford pear on our driveway that I have to clean up today!
I dropped a big maple after it was torn up by two different tropical storms. Looked like it was diseased in the trunk so weak overall. Also took down a Bradford pear.
Tried to carve a cardinal figure in the maple stump but gave up. That chainsaw art is harder than it looks. Cut and chunked the stump to the ground and just had the pros grind both. Waiting a few weeks for spots to settle before top soil and sod.
We planted two native red maples in their place.
I was on a city forestry trim crew for a time after high school. I was in better shape then. Climbing trees every day is good cardio and strength training.
Y’ALL, I have the best neighbors!! About 10:30, my niece’s husband who is part owner of a large chicken farm on the property behind me was headed to the chicken houses to check on things and do a few maintenance obs. Shortly after, my niece calls and says “Scott said to tell you he will be at your house to take care of your downed tree.” About noon, Scott and his partner in the chicken farm show up with saws, dump truck, and trac-ho. So the 3 of us get after it, and by 3:00 this is what they left me with.
They put their days work on hold to take care of three neighbors who had some tree damages from last night’s storm. You don’t find folks like that very often. I’m gonna fire up the smoker and load it with butts and ribs…I owe them that much.
Good neighbors are rare these days. Nice payback with the smoker.
