I hate Seadek

It’s the devil, anyone wanting to put it on a boat should be forced to remove some first.

had a gap in schedule due to the weather and have been itching to rip my gunnels out.

I’m about 9hrs in and need to buff it out to be finished.

Removing the foam is the worst part.

I see you had the heat gun out. Did that help some?

I often consider putting it on my poling and casting platform, then I see a post like this and change my mind.

It’ll be super satisfying once you’ve finished. :clap:t3:

Heat gun and bondo spreader to painstakingly remove the foam

Bulk of the adhesive taken off with mineral spirits in a spray bottle and the same spreader

Final removal with pressure washer

Makes a mess

Almost easier to buy new boat!

Ya, just not worth it. Looks great new, but it’s not “if” it has to be removed, just “when”.

One thing good about my cheap Mitzi, its bare bones. The gunnels are glued in indoor-outdoor carpet. Just rip it out in one piece; lay it over some new to cut the template, and glue in the new right over the top of the old glue.

Perfection is perfected! Looks great.

Looks nice!

I wanted to put on my Gheenoe. Then I got my Lostmen and I am convinced it is exactly where it needs to be, poling platform and casting platform.

BEEN THERE…done that…I used two or 3 bottles of goo-gone with acetone and lots of dawn to clean up…ugggh.

May be a silly question but has anyone ever asked Seadek how to remove it?

Nice clean look. I like it!

Looks great. Nice job!

Their official instructions are above. We had many threads about this on the ex-site. Even on flat surfaces it can be a PITA - I got it off pretty good last time I did it, but it was all platform work where I could use a piece of PVC to get and edge with leverage and roll it off. I then soaked the glue with mineral spirits soaked rags overnight and it wiped right up. But gunnels and concave surfaces are another story - very hard to get good leverage to pull it off with equal tension, so it ends up tearing.

Looks great ,and yes i agree on the reel pad squares only! Keep it looking clean!that was well worth the time spent :+1::cowboy_hat_face:

I ask because it sounds like a major pita to remove.
