Coming for a flat near you
I hate them to, but that thing is rigged specifically for fishing. Would it be any different if the same guy came trolling into the flat on a 19’ Pathfinder or Jonboat?
Anybody who spends $50k for that thing is likely a passionate fisherman, who fishes solo, without enough space to store a boat.
Luckily, we don’t see many PWC’s in my area. The tidal current on the Wando is way too fast/strong. Actually, I didn’t see one all summer. I’m sure its a big problem for you Florida guys. I know bass fisherman who’d like to shoot at them.
I thought we already had this discussion. That machine will no doubt be priced substantially higher than a “regular” PWC. The people who purchase one will be purchasing it to fish from, not to emulate a mosquito and buzz in every ear they can get to. They will operate it the same as they would if they were in your skiff; they will be fishing. Keep in mind, the skiff world has its irresponsible and rude PITAs also.
Really just another take on the Solo Skiff. I’ve got no problem here.
I guess it’s different strokes for different folks but just like the kayaks loaded to the point that you would be better off in a small skiff, at ~$30K estimated MSRP, there are a lot better options for getting on the water.
IMHO, it’s the same as with other causes…
It’s not the boat’s fault - it’s the pilot.
It’s not the weapon’s fault - it’s the killer.
It’s the liquor bottle’s fault - it’s the drunk.
It’s not the Big Mac’s fault - it’s the dude who eats everything in sight.
…and the one that’s been sneaking by for decades:
We can’t punish this one person for the evil deed, and make an example for all to see. We must instead use this tragedy to make new rules/laws that EVERYONE must follow, comply with and conform to.
I like it. A typical jet ski guy isn’t buying that so no point getting all twisted about it.
Honestly, I think in a few years I might unload my skiff and get a cheap jet ski. Not that one, but a typical 3 person you can grab used for 5k. Another $500 in Amazon bolt ons and you have a capable machine for inshore and nearshore.
Personally, I don’t have any qualms about this. As others have said, someone buying this probably isn’t your typical jet ski rider. Someone spending that kind of money (~$30k) is very likely buying it to go fishing, which I’m down with. No elitism here!
I’d much rather selectively apply this logic to things i don’t like such as jet skis.
Then do what you’d rather do - live how you want to live. I’ve taken my bro-in-law’s jet ski for a spin at the lake and I have to say, it was fun. However, I don’t care for the jet ski crowd. In most cases they are rude, disruptive and sort of like this guy…

Its not the vessel its the operator!
But some vessels have a stereotype due to their typical operators.

..!! Nah dude.
Horsepower restrictions for inland waterways… I want to run for governor just on this issue. I have been on some big lakes that have a 9.9hp or a 25hp limit. It 100% changes the look and feel of the waterway and for the better.
I know who im not voting for !

Lol. Come on…you know you would be the guy that modifies a 25 yami 2-smoke to get 65hp. Then come here to brag about it…
I’m not a fan of jet skis either but that is not a jet ski. Looks like a good shallow water fishing machine.
