How Many Repair Inserts Before a Push Pole Gets Too Heavy?

I have a 21’ Stiffy Guide that I snapped in the mud. I used their insert kit to repair it, but it’s down to 20’ 2". I wish it was a lot longer.

I came across a 3’ section of the tubing and I’d like to add that to the pole. My concern is the extra weight of two additional inserts making the pole heavy.

I can buy a new point and cut it at the old point. If I stick the new point into one end of the 3’ tube and use the repair insert on the other, I can get away with just one additional insert piece and still get 23’.

Before I order the pieces, how much heavier do you guys think those two 12" inserts will make the pole. I’d like to avoid the expense of a new 23’-24’ pole.

You won’t even be able to tell the difference in weight if you use the carbon ferrule kit.

Agree, you probably won’t be able to tell much difference.

Thanks guys. I’ll head over to Haddrells and buy another kit. Be nice to have that extra 3’.

When I assembled my MHX pole, the tubes and ferrules were light. The fork and tip were a larger percentage of weight than I imagined they would be. I’m guessing the is intentional so the ends aren’t as buoyant.

I repaired a Carbon Marine twice before adding a new section and never noticed it being any heavier. You should be fine. The inserts weigh nothing.
