Splashed the ol’ bird Saturday to do a bit of messing about. No real plan other than exercise my camera. I haven’t really focused on photography outside of work in recent months. So I wanted to get out on the water mostly to get some pictures, do a little fishing and then in the mid afternoon meet up with @BrownDog to hangout.
Did pick up one stud of a red on a topwater. That was fun.
Egret is self bailing. @BrownDog and I met up in the afternoon. I took the picture of my boat sitting from his Maverick. The other shot was also from his skiff.
@iMacattack found me tucked way up in an oyster bay earlier that morning and got some pictures as I was leaving and again when pulling back to the dock.
You can tell he’s starting to find the fishy areas. That or the long lens is a sneaky scouting tool ha!
My hewes bonefisher 16 was advertised as self bailing, but due to the lower deck in the cockpit it was “self-filling” when at rest with 2 people aboard. You needed to keep plugs in the scuppers to prevent this from happening, but then it was no longer self bailing. My egret has a cockpit deck that sits considerably higher , and is truly self bailing.
So funny story, I “fell” while on Cleve’s Mav that day. The step down from the front deck to the cockpit on the Egret is much less than Cleve’s Mav. I went to step off the front deck of his skiff and my body expected the cockpit to be closer. I fell with a dull thud… bit painful but mostly embarrassing.
