E-bikes best brands/models?

Any of you skiff heads got an e-bike worth the money spent or have you had any that were a pos that I should avoid? Looks like I’m going to be in the market for one for my 15yo. Thanks

We have two Specialized e-bikes. One is the TeroX that my son will be taking to college since it has lights, fenders, and a rack. He has a bad ankle with multiple surgeries so needs extra help on some days when it locks up. The other one is a Turbo Levo And is more of a mountain bike that we use for trail riding. I love riding them both and I run out of range before they do

I think they, Specialized, make some of the best bikes because they build it all and integrate themselves. Many other brands source the drive and electronics from another supplier like Bosch and then build the frame around it. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer it to all be designed together as one.

Specialized is pricey though but you do get what you pay for. Go find a dealer in your area and test one. We like to trail ride as a family activity so it has been worth the investment.

I’ll check them out. Thank you. This is exactly the input i need. My son will be taking it to the creeks and ponds around the area and to Ocracoke so it needs to be on the durable side. Thank you.

I had a Juiced Rip Racer and now I have a QuietKat Lynx. I love them both. The rip racer felt more like a BMX, a bit more fun to ride and easier to navigate, however the full rigid suspension was rough! the QK Lynx feels like a cadillac with the full suspension. It’s just much larger so you feel the bigger bike.

No experience with e-bikes, but I’ll second @G8r opinion on Specialized, they build some great bikes. I can only imagine their e-bikes would great as well.

Lord just crawled back out the e-bike rabbit hole. Man the prices are all over the place and reviews are too. Y’all are right with the higher end priced ones the reviews are better. I live in bfe and nearest dealers are over 2hrs away with most. Bass pro is a quietkat dealer again 2.5hrs away. Specialized bikes nearest dealer is over 4hrs in WV. Richmond VA has some shops and from what I see from websites everything is high as camel cocks. Maybe I just wasn’t prepared for what they are going for. Anything with suspension both ends around Richmond is 5k and up.

We bought two Lectric folding bikes, we use them when camping. They have held up well so far and are priced right.

Look at Aventon as more budget friendly with decent reviews. I tested one once and it was fine but not as smooth and seamless as a Specialized. You can buy them direct too. Will definitely be much cheaper

I have one of these that I would part with if you’re interested. I bought it to use for getting around spectator spots at racetracks but now the main track I visit outlawed them. It’s practically new and has worked just fine. PM me if you’re interested.

We just ordered 2 of the Murph Alpha. Solid bikes and well designed.

Depends on what you’re looking for but YT Decoy is about the best value electric mountain bike.

Man that’s a super nice bike. I’m shooting for something in the $2-3k range with fenders fat tires and a rear rack. Corbin pond fishes a lot and would be nice for him to strap a tackle bag and rod to the rack.

Check out RAD. My daughter bought one last summer off a bow hunter-fits your description plus has a small trailer-

We We bought two of these Lectric 3.0 XP’s for when we go camping, this pic was taken on the Salmon River in Idaho. So far so good hauling my fly rod and gear around.

I’ve looked at all the bikes y’all have mentioned/recommended and looked at the reviews. I’m leaning towards a fat tire from small town bikes. @Finbully has a boogie bike to sell so was looking into them. Anybody got any experience with the company or the fat tire they offer. Sounds like they are good to deal with according to the reviews.

They have been first rate for me. I bought mine at Road Atlanta a couple of years ago before they had to change their name from Boogie Bikes. Those fat tire bikes have less battery range due to their increased resistance of the tires. Something to consider.

We have 3 Rad City’s

Not bad for the price😎

Whatever you get, make sure that it comes with a good helmet. Injuries from e-bikes are getting more common - it’s too easy for people to go faster than they normally would. But it is a two sided problem - cars not being aware of cyclist is already an issue, and combining that with increased speed can cause more serious accidents.

My wife works in dentistry and my brother-in-law is an ER doc - both have said they are seeing more people come in with serious injuries due to these.
