This looks like a fantastic skiff, designed by some of the best in the business. However, information on this new skiff is limited. Perhaps they have a waiting list already, and don’t want to push more sales? Does anyone here own one, or have pictures, specs, opinions, demo reviews to share?
I am highly interested but probably know just as much as you do. One of the posts stated they envisioned a building a skiff between a Glades Skiff and Waterman. The weight is impressive - 380lbs for a side console, no rigging. Lots of cool design features.
I’ll be watching closely as these start to roll out - I’d love to see one in person.
@DBStoots posted this on the ex-site earlier last year after talking to Deadrise boats. Reposting the main content here for to provide more info. No text has been changed below.
“Good afternoon,
As some of you may have seen, Deadrise has moved to a new building on the same site as The Skiff Shop in Oak Hill FL to work as partners with them to introduce a new skiff.
Tom Gordon has been an industry peer and friend of mine for 20 years, and in mid 2022 we started discussion about combining our teams to bring a new skiff to market. Our partnership means that Deadrise designs and produces a skiff ready for rigging. and The Skiff Shop helps develop, rigs the skiffs, and handles the sales and marketing. This will utilize both of our strengths the best and split the work needed for efficient production.
There is no other company I would consider working with in this way because Tom is a professional boat builder like me, and has the same goals for producing this skiff.
I have put the Zero18 model on pause to design our new skiff, the Palometa, which will start production mid 2024. Specs on the new skiff are as follows:
18’3" x 61" with 20" transom and draft of 3.75" at 900lbs
Forward and aft dry storage hatches along with a glove box under the helm seat cushion.
8’ long cockpit with fully molded liner and 8 aft facing rod holders under gunnel for fly, spin, or any combination of both.
2 degree deadrise at transom - variable moving forward.
20HP - 50HP rating for all configurations, and 60HP max requiring side or center console option.
Tunnel hull and insulated cooler/livewell optional.
Industry leading finished weight, fit and finish, and features.
Yes, that last sentence is a bold one. I make that with a record of what I have evaluated coming through the shop which includes photos and fully rigged skiff weights on a certified digital scale.
The new skiff is another ground up original design which will share many design features from the Zero18 including all hatches having fully hidden hinges and are truly dry and drain overboard, fully infused cored fiberglass with vinylester resin, molded finish central bilge and drain, upper chine (spray rail) function and styling.
The performance of this skiff has been refined over hundreds of hours of on water testing and changed dozens of times.
Please take the time to join us by watching our R&D work and the future launch of the first build by following @skiffshop and our new @deadrisecustomboats instagram pages.
Even if this boat is not for you, I feel you will enjoy seeing the innovation, build quality, performance, and enthusiasm our teams bring.
Thank you and tight lines,
Thomas Hay Jr

Slick looking skiff. Gives off Drake vibes…
I’ve seen a few of there instagram posts. Looks like they’ve truly put in a ton of thought into the little details.
Their IG account “deadrisecustomboats” has a lot of details and shows nearly the entire build process. I exchanged emails with Tom before I went with Chittum.
Palometa is 2 degree deadrise, 20” transom, 20-60hp, 18’3” x 61”
the cockpit is reportedly very shallow, meaning the top deck is not far from the cockpit floor.
Looks like a pretty sweet skiff
Good looking skiff. If @Smackdaddy53 can get you “almost there” without a tunnel then a small tunnel might be the ticket. Maybe something only a couple of inches tall.
Getting away from these gargantuan trapezoid, round and vented tunnels is the best thing a skiff builder can do. A few builders are doing this now. I like the Palometa, been watching it for a while.
Are you not a fan of the tunnels?
I’d love to hear you opinion on it. I don’t need a crazy shallow water skiff but am forever curious
My reply was commending them for going to a smaller tunnel as they stated in the post on this thread.
No one “needs” a tunnel but anyone and everyone can benefit from having the ability to get the prop up higher even on a non tunnel. Every time I hear or read someone talk about not needing a tunnel or jackplate I look at their lower unit and prop and they tell a different story. It’s like the guys that claim they don’t need trim tabs…
It’s a fine looking skiff. Each one is unique in its own way because each one is configured the way the owner wants it. Depending on how many hatches they want.
Hi fellas.
Nice place you have here.
Let me know if I can answer any questions about the company, the skiff, or myself.

I saw one in person last winter, beautiful skiff. Fit and finish is top notch.
Welcome aboard Tom. Great looking, and highly technical skiff your team is building there!
Thanks for joining @Thomas - it’s great to have you here. For me, just more pics that show off the boat would be great. Instagram doesn’t have any high quality pics. I’ve checked the website a few times and haven’t seen any updates there, but you probably have that on the way.
Specs and options would be great, including starting base price. The info so far has been impressive and keep up the great work!
Welcome aboard @Thomas Glad to have you. The few pix I’ve seen of your skiffs are impressive.
@Thomas Welcome! It’s always a great thing when we have the boss on board.
@Thomas Always great to have builders on here to rep their stuff. Says a lot about a company when the owner personally gets involved. The boat is already a looker, you showing up is just another +1.
Like others shared, would love to see more pics, she has unusually nice lines. Not all of us are on instabooktok and avoid such places on purpose, so the more you are willing to share here the better!
@Thomas congrats on introducing some significant improvements in water management, and how you hide the fuel fill under the front hatch. The skiff was a little narrow for me to place an order, but love what you are doing to move skiff building forward.
