I’ve always figured a dragon tail would do very well on cobia

This one ate a tarpon toad on Blurple. 2/0 SL12 with a little bunny strip and tarantula for a head. This was the smallest of three fish that came in on it while tarpon fishing. It was also the fastest fish!

I didn’t figure em to be to picky, just didn’t know of any specific patterns/colors may have been more productive than another.
Nice “by catch” though. My only Cobs so far are lil fellas.

I can tell you that I have had more refusals than eats on Cobia on the tarpon flat.
I think the shallow water tarpon prefer micro movement flies, whereas Cobia prefer big movements.
If I were tying a fly for Cobia it is going to be more eel like.
