Best boat snacks of all time

Haha good question, usually chicken tenders for me! Sometimes the fried chicken mix box and then theres leftovers which like yours, my kids devour lol.

If needing a quick breakfast I’ll make some overnight oats.

If I want to be fancy I’ll bring my Coleman gas burner and a skillet to fry up a couple of salmon patties or fry a piece of bologna for a sandwich.

Other than that

Smoked Kipper snacks on a ritz cracker

Cold honey crisp apple

Uncrustables

Cliff bars

It’s a ham egg and cheese biscuit from Genes orange mkt for breakfast because he opens 5am has non-ethanol and crappie minnows. For lunch whatever leftovers i can scratch up to make a sandwich. Oh and an old school Stanley thermos full of black coffee. If down on the coast its pickles, cheese, olives and fruit.

Big old bowl of spaghetti and a bag of garlic bread. Chase it down with some peach cobbler. Hits the spot on these sweltering late summer days

:joy: I’m just being an idiot. A friend did show up one day and pulled lasagna in a sealed plastic container out of his cooler and it cracked me up. Still does.

I feel most are missing the Boat Pun intended, :rofl: as in a Best Boat snack is IMHO one that can be on the boat for months and still edible such as smoked Vienna sausages :face_savoring_food: or canned sardines :+1: as a child i looked forward to what my Grandfather brought for snacks ,he even had a cabinet at the house just for the boat snacks that he had to guard :wink:, canned stuff and several types of crackers with peanut butter and cheese! And yes i love the Publix Hot wings non breaded, but canned food rules far as Best Boat snack! That can be kept in your Dry Box ! Smoked Viennas and Sardines in mustard sauce being a couple of my favorites :face_savoring_food::+1: I Really Miss my Grandfather :sleepy_face: he’s the one that made me a fisherman i think my Dad Was Adopted :laughing: J/K

One day out of Yankeetown I was so hungover (don’t do that anymore) that I had to concentrate on breathing or I’d forget. Hot, hot mid summer, sweating buckets, half blind and by mid morning had finally developed the slightest hint of an appetite. Just anything to get in my stomach . My buddy rummages around in the port rear hatch for a while and produces a can of smoked oysters, opens it up and offers me one. WTF man. No I did not try it and responded with polite series of dry heaves. I think that can was from the 90s.

Back in the day when most of my fishing was done far offshore. Would always stop on the way out at some rocks and catch a snapper or two. Would have a package of pre-made Pico de Galllo, some fresh lemons and a big Ziplock baggie. Fillet the snapper and cube it up, put in the baggie with the pico de gallo and squeeze several fresh lemons into it. Add salt and pepper, zip it up and put in the ice chest. Would have fresh ceviche and tortilla chips later for lunch…. Always good!

Fried chicken. If one of my buddies from Texas is coming to fish with me I make the stop at a place in Lake Charles called “Ball’s Fried Chicken”, it’s on the way. The chicken is amazing, very spicy plus you get the added benefit of acting like a 9 year old saying things like “I can’t understand you, you’ve got balls in your mouth…..”.

If I don’t have access to Ball’s, Popeye’s will do, also we have a local place named Stephen’s that most people just call “Chicken In The Hood”… because it’s so in the hood. They do chicken strips that are ginormous and well seasoned and delicious.

In Belize, the lodge sent us out every day with a container of Ceviche and chips. Man, that was delicious!

Publix chicken wings, mozzarella string cheese. In the winter, I love slices of Hickory Farms turkey summer sausage, some variety of cheese on whole wheat Trisket crackers. With olives and raw baby carrots and radishes.

When I fished in La Paz, we did the lunch ceviche tortillas. They were delicious.

After suffering through my first winter here in the low country I found some Kettle & Fire chicken bone broth in a thermos with a light sprinkle of salt really warmed me up while getting the single fin salute from the local redfish population.

Some great suggestions, especially the Hawaiian roll hack! We would hit a Mexican restaurant and pick up some breakfast tacos and a few lunch tacos. If you wrapped the lunch tacos in a big towel, they stay warm.

The one thing I will suggest, make sure you look at your food. I was fishing in a stream one time and reached in my vest and realized I had a bag of Jerky in there so I grabbed a piece out and shoved it my mouth as I was watching a fish rise. It had a real strange taste, I got to look at the bag and realized that it all turned bright green.

I had no idea Beef jerky could go bad!

Pub subs (Italian or chicken tenders), fresh pineapple and strawberry chunks, and if I plan ahead, a can of boiled peanuts.

I have been doing 3 day fasting routines…Kettle Bone Broth is the supplement after 36 hours…

As things chill down here in So Flo…definately gona steal your idea and take along some in my Yeti quart container. I find if you fill it first with boiling water and let it sit for 5 minutes then add your hot beverage…it will hold for 6-7 hours.

Capt Don H and I would take along hot dogs back in the day.

Follow up…I heard that the ENP service has now a specific requirement that you must enter the Park with at least one piece of Dion’s Chicken :slight_smile:

After a quick stop at Don’s for some shrimp, it’s almost a requirement to pick up a few pieces of breakfast chick at Dion’s…after 6am on a weekend, they are normally sold out :(. But, who’s not in the park by 0600 ?
