Anyone else here enjoy making something from nothing?
I’m self taught with watercolors and oil paints. Tried acrylics but hated how fast they dried and they have this weird plasticy texture to the finished paintings, I wasn’t a fan.
David - always enjoyed seeing your creations on that "other’ forum - glad to see you posting them over here as well! Still have my eye on that one, but waiting for the right time - and location!
while i certainly appreciate the kind words, painting is just endless hours of practice. painting hundreds of shitty paintings, and learning from each one prior.
i just finished up this little 13x19 commissioned oil painting.
I guess I am an artist. A commericial one. I’ve been a commercial photographer for 30 years but am mostly retired but still doing a bit of work in the sunglasses and fishing industries. I specialized in small tabletop photography. If someone is peeling $100s and needs a little widget to look good, I am the guy.
David just fantastic renderings. I have started to teach myself how to paint my fish carvings. I do my art in the wintertime when inside if too cold out.
My father made his living as an architectural illustrator using water colors. I wish I had paid more attention to my parents when they painted.
Here’s some of my latest fish paintings of my latest paintings of fish on carved wood.
Thanks for sharing, best watercolor bonefish I have seen.
After posting, I realize I’ve lost a lot of photographs through lost and damaged phones, and I need to start making att again. Pretty much my only outlet now is iPhone photography.
nice work Chris! I’ve always wanted to try to carve and paint an actual fish, but 90% of the time I got bills to pay so I stick to what I know sells. One day when I have some free time and don’t need $ to pour into another boat build, I’ll take some time and experiment with a wood carving or two…
Brandon that woodworking art is cool! I hear you about spending too much time on boats… I have a 1978 Sea OX sitting outside that needs about 500 hours and 20K
