Any issues with unplugging a Simrad unit often?

Got a question for the HQ’ers: I’m considering a Simrad NSS evo3S 9” to replace an old Garmin mounted to the top of the console. Since the skiff is stored under a carport, I’m kinda sketched out with leaving it on there for extended amounts of time. I plan to buy a Durasafe E-Lock, but if I were to unplug and remove the unit regularly, but does that risk messing up the connections?

I have a NSS EVO 12" and take it off an on every trip…but, I bought a 3 year warranty plan with West Marine…I’m about 2 years or so in and still working fine…

I just keep; mine well greased with Dialec Grease and am very careful with the plug in process…I don’t let others do it so I don’t end up with a broken pin..but, I can’t imagine it would be too difficult or expensive to repair…let’s see over time…do the same with my transducer.

What DC said except I don’t remove transducers.

No issues here, we remove ours after every trip.

I do notice that my Simrad does run a little hot.

Simrad connections have a notch that only allows the plug to be inserted in one way before the cap can be tightened down. The only issue I’ve seen with the units is if the cable at the port is bent due to the mount - it can cause the wires to short out. Other than that, I’ve had no issue removing each time.

I’ve removed and put back on a GO7 no less than 1000 times and no issues

Zero issues. Being your unit is exposed to the salt (not being a permanent mount) I’d suggest using a little dielectric grease on all contacts. I use it on all connections even if not directly exposed to the salt.

I had one on a Spyder FX19 that I took off every trip. No issues.
