I’m reposting because of the number of accounts we have and only a fraction are paying up to keep this site running and ad free. I know it’s annoying but it’s reality. The reason we started this was to have a member owned page where we don’t have to deal with ads, commie Canadakistans and bots…so here it is again!
Guys, we need your subscriptions if you can swing it. The whole reason we can have this ad free, bot free site is because we chose to make it member owned. That comes from subscriptions…and I know you guys spend more than $30 a year on crappy beer and gear you don’t really need. Your subscriptions are necessary to keep this place on the up and up. I’m re-posting this as another gentle nudge…
What started at the end of May 2025 and came to life on June 2, 2025 is now a force to be reckoned with. SkiffHQ isn’t just another forum—it’s a member-powered space for real conversations.
No ads. No AI. No bots. No moderators telling you to “stand down.”
Now it’s your turn to help keep it going strong.
$30/year—just $2.50 a month.
What else can you get for $2.50 in the world of fishing?
Not a gallon of gas.
Not a pack of lures.
Not even a bag of ice at the marina.
But here, $2.50 a month keeps the forum running, the lights on, and the noise out.
Want to make a bigger impact?
Want to show you truly believe in what we’re building?
Step up with a $300 Lifetime Membership—a one-time show of support that helps secure SkiffHQ for the long haul.
This isn’t about unlocking features. It’s about making something real last.
Some how I thought I was doing $30/mo until i got to $300. Not real sure why I thought that but like you said $30 a yr aint crap. How do I trade my fish in for an anchor? Is the anchor for when you do the $300 lifetime?
We felt it was important to offer two options to help support SkiffHQ. The first option is the $30 a year subscription. The second option is $300 one time charge for a lifetime subscription. If you want to upgrade reach out to @Zika he can help you out.
Yep, with your paid membership we can keep this going without all the corporate BS. That is the reason we are all here and not there. Trust me, I’m on another gun forum that is owned by the same people as the site we all left. They didn’t learn a thing and just implemented the same bot on that forum and it has pretty much gone the same way. These guys aren’t asking for much, just enough to keep the lights on!!
Just throwing out an idea here. There is a Hunting forum that I am on which only allows advertising for member owned businesses. It could add some revenue for the site and benefit member’s businesses that choose to sponsor the site. It’s also good way to find someone you can trust for a service or product you might need. The site I’m on keeps it non intrusive with just an add banner at the top of each page and a dedicated page with all sponsored listings.
The site is tracking very well the way it is. If we want to advertise our businesses we have a place for that already without adding any banners. We made a promise and we’re sticking to it. People need to subscribe when they can swing $30 a year or $300 for a lifetime membership which I believe is reasonable.
@LowcountryAngling Thanks for bringing this up. The management team had some really good discussion when we created Skiff HQ. We’re all in agreement that the core mission of SkiffHQ is to remain ad-free.
That said, we do have some excellent members who not only support SkiffHQ as Lifetime Members but also share content that highlights their businesses.
For example, @Louis-southdade has graciously subscribed as a Lifetime Member and regularly shares engaging posts that also shine a light on his work. Another great example is @Smackdaddy53 , who provides both value to our community and visibility for his business through his contributions.
This type of authentic, community-driven “advertising” is far more beneficial than banner ads—it promotes small businesses while keeping the focus on meaningful engagement.
A Template for Business Owners
If you own or operate a small business and are wondering how to “advertise” here, take inspiration from these examples:
Engage actively in discussions
Share your expertise in ways that benefit the community
Support SkiffHQ through Lifetime membership or other contributions
This model keeps SkiffHQ ad-free, helps members grow their businesses, and builds a stronger, more supportive community.
Thanks again to everyone who contributes in this spirit!
@iMacattack - If I can humbly make another recommendation (as a plain ole Joe) for business owners - the street cred thread is a great place to share your credentials and tell your story - then throw the link to your post in your signature line. That thread sort of took a life of it’s own, but it’s a hell of a good catalogue of the mental horsepower we have on this forum. There are some folks on here who I “knew” from MS . . . and had no idea how valuable their suggestions and insights were until I saw their street cred posts.
It ain’t bragging if it’s true, and in the social media world where everyone has an opinion, it’s nice to know how much experience and expertise that opinion has.
(mine are worthless, btw, but I have a lot of them)
When I can sit down long enough to type it out I’m going to do a more in depth Street Cred Thread view of the things I’ve done in my life that led to where I am today and where I’m going.
