Thanks for the feedback, do you know if the small diameter fits in a tibor push pole caddy?
It was easy enough to take a heat gun and heat the plastic up good and use a clamp around the caddy with the pole in it then let it cool. The plastic will hold it shape and fit the new pole. I’ve done this with a couple different caddies to get a tighter fit if they wear out over time.
If you can, keep it and get a 24’ Guide. I like the flexibility of having both lengths for varying conditions.
One of us has to be out there catching the fish hahaha
I have a used most of the push pole offerings out there. I have a 24’ CM G3LR that I love, more so than the stiffy guide. I used a 24’ marquesa small diameter this season and couldn’t believe how stiff it was, noticeably stiffer than the CM. I didn’t use for hours on end so can’t confirm or deny Smacks sentiments. I’d probably go the Marquesa route if I had to replace my CM, but hoping the G3LR holds up for years to come.
I own all three push poles you mention above, well not the Marquesa Professional, but the small diameter Marquesa. CM 3GLR is my choice. The Marquesa is my second choice. I like the way the CM feels in my hands just a little better. I’ve heard they don’t recommend the CM for beginners, not sure why….it’s definitely the stiffest and it pushes my 21’ just fine as well as stake ring her out in some snot. My second choice is the Marquesa.
Have you guys seen the video where CA gives his push pole to Flip and he hacks the end off? CA’s face is hilarious….Flip glued a fork on the end from a cypress/eucalyptus tree or something like that. I gotta dig that video up and add it here if I can find it. I though it was such a cool idea, but not so sure about hacking up such an expensive tool.
@BMahoney I have this setup. the small diameter Marquesa works in the standard Tiber holder but has some play. Fibertex/Stiffy sells a smaller Tibor holder cup for their Extreme pole which is pretty tight on the Marquesa. So you have to choose, a little play or a little too tight.
I found the other stealth foot from Sabine, but created another thread to not derail this one and also provide more specific content and feedback regarding use and cost.
Could call carbon marine and see if they can add a few feet to your current pole. Joe is awesome to talk to just need to make sure he’s got material in his shop. Highly recommend
