24' 1 Piece Push-Pole

I am looking for opinions on one piece 24’ push poles, I currently use a Stiffy Guide that I really like but it is only 21’. All my polling is inshore on oyster/mud flats or in creeks. What poles do y’all recommend? For the most part I have narrowed it down to the three below.

  • Stiffy Guide
  • Marquesas Professional
  • Carbon Marine G3LR (which foot shape is preferred)

If anyone wants to buy a 21’ Guide let me know.

24’ Carbon Marine, bridged foot. Can’t go wrong.

can’t fix what’s not broke- stay with the guide- stiffy now sells the feather foot as option- highly reccomend for oysters/mud

What about a Stiffy Extreme? I just bought a very lightly used 22 extreme on marketplace for half of a new one. I would call it a step up in ease of use over the guide. Otherwise I’d look at the Marquesa Marine if the cost isn’t too much for you. I’ve only tried one in a parking lot but it felt very light and strong, but they’re pricey.

The small diameter push poles are not comfortable to use in my opinion. Larger hands with some arthritis play well with standard diameter poles. The Guide is a available in a 24’. Carbon Marine and Marquesa Marine are also really nice poles. I have both a Carbon Marine and a Guide.

Have you used it? I saw it on their site but have not seen it in person or heard any feedback about it. I need to refinish my stiffy in the off season and am considering getting this.

I had a g3lr carbon marine and will have another. for me between that and the stiffy guide but i didn’t like how small the diameter of the stiffy was.

Yessir- I like the forks without bridge for mud- and the material dampens sound on oyster/hard bottoms. It also adds some grip. it was designed and originally made several years ago by a mid coast guide-recently made available thru/by Fibertex/Stiffy. Also balances well on the guide 24’.

I think you are missing words in your reply. The Stiffy Guide is not the small diameter pole, it’s the Extreme.

My last 2 poles have been 24’ G3LR and have been pleased.

I have used both feet and prefer the fork/non bridged/no mud bar foot for here.

Locally:

Salt and Marsh has marquesa poles in stock (haven’t poled with one and won’t give an opinion)

Rivers and Glenn has Carbon marine in stock

Speaking of stealth push pole spikes and feet…..

I recall seeing a brand that has rubber tips, but I cannot find them. It wasn’t the high $$$ brand that came out with multiple detachable pieces in a carrying case, although I cannot find them either.

Anyone recall these?

I love the Stiffy guide.

I also have the CM 24’. Its a nice pole, but does flex a bit. If anyone wants to buy a carbon marine 24’ in the Tampa bay area LMK.

I prefer the stiffness of the guide.

I poled with The marquesa marine pole, which was the smaller diameter pole, and loved it .
It’s super stiff, but it is a four piece pole.

The GL3R is an amazing pole and they’re great folks.. Joe is a good guy.

That’s because I’m dumb. You’re right my bad.

No you aren’t, I think I read it wrong. My Guide is pretty flimsy and flexible but it’s one of the older slick finishes. I just poled with a new one in Tampa last week and it had more of a raw finish and texture. I like both but the new one was definitely a better feel!

Marquesa small diameter is the best on the market and the G3LR is number 2. Stiffy isn’t worth looking at

*edited below since all the thumbs down and laughs … @Smackdaddy53 :sob:

The new marquesa small diameter pole is the lightest pole on the market. It is also the stiffest. 30% stiffer than the stiffy guide. It won’t shed carbon splinters either the way it’s wrapped and laminated.

The G3LR is a great pole and I’ve had a couple of them before I switched to the new marquesa. Every stiffy I have ever used or picked up on buddies skiffs drove me crazy. Loss of grip, carbon splinters. Breaking easier than the previous two mentioned. OP asked about those 3 so I gave my opinion and real world experience with each.

Yep, that’s one of them - thanks! If I find the other, I’ll post it. PPS lists a website on their IG but it isn’t loading, and their posts are older, so it makes me wonder if they are still at it.

I’m just laughing because it’s a small diameter pole and not everyone likes the small diameter because we’re all different. Opinions are always welcome! I’ve pushed a few different skiffs with the Marquesa Marine. I’ve pushed a lot of different skiffs with probably every pole on the market and the only one I despised was a white fiberglass OG Stiffy. I’ve never been impressed enough by one pole to claim it’s the best on the market. I can’t pole all day with the small diameter poles because my arthritis flares up. Not hating, not trying to make you mad, just made me laugh.
