2025 Skiff Lineup/Drafts

Well, after the debacle on the other place. I did a deep dive on learning how to use AI for good.:joy: Here is a simple spreadsheet I asked Grok to compile. Obviously it is not complete. But, it took all of five minutes for me to query, copy/paste, and format.

Thank you for sharing that. I cut and pasted it in my notes. As far as AI goes, strictly to be used as a resource not to be used to police language!

Great resource. Thanks for sharing. Pinned for future reference until December/new model year.

I’ve been really happy with my Evergladez…https://www.spearboatworks.com/products-3

According to this Marquesa and Pro draft the same. Exactly why ForaFrank was useless. I can say from personal experience this is not close.

What would you like it to be. I’ll update it.

I appreciate the spirit of this, but it is so relevant to factors not discussed, that you can’t really do anything with this. There is a measurable difference in the exact same skiff with a tiller, side or center console, as well as jack plate and outboard size options. Batteries, electronics, rigging utensils, and even lay ups cloud this even further.

I know that you can hit REAL drafts with the new EVO17x that hover 3". You can also hit 7" in that model. More than double. It all depends on the build.

These numbers are basically farmed from site listings and are essentially useless. The conversation runs deeper than most charts are capable of reconciling. I do appreciate the effort though. I tried to build this from real world data back on the old place, but realized it was virtually impossible.

Mine drafts 3-12" depending on who and how they are measuring…I love when they set it on a sand bar and post photos with tape with marks on the transom…

Being familiar w BT skiffs, a basic CC Mosquito with two fishermen no TM , 10-15 gal of gas and gear, is a “5” draft skiff easy.
A Strike, definitely sub 5” when not overloaded. I’m sure Mr Spirit Fly Charters, Alex Moran can attest to that!
A side console Mosquito, similarly loaded is a sub 5” skiff.
Their new Rival is a sub 4” boat, tiller, w 2 fishermen.

That is empty so I don’t know. It looks like 4 or 5 inches under water.

seems a little off based on my experience

My Conchfish is pretty dang light and longer than some of these skiffs mentioned. I would say anything six inches or less with two average guys onboard is doing something. I cannot honestly say my skiff is a five inch skiff with 450 lbs of dudes. Not more than six though. With two welterweight guys it might could be a five inch skiff.

I can’t say 1-2" has made a huge difference under my keel but in other aspects of life, I can see how it could for some folks.

I would say every single trip I end up pushing through or over something, often times having to push backwards and alter my route. Happened multiple times my last trip mostly poling around points where it gets shallower.

Come fish with me and I’ll show you how 1-2" extra hull in the water limits where you can fish.

It’s a rare trip that I don’t drag a little. I don’t mind the sand or mud, but when I’m poling in skinny water and those oysters reach up and try to grab my hull, the sound drives me crazy. If you fish down here, depth matters.

Marquesa real world draft with anglers is around 8-10”, with a variable 12 degree deadrise.

Alright some of these draft numbers are getting silly

Mine measures just over 4” loaded minus people. And barely over 6” with a 210 guy in the back and 220 in front. Resting level in deep water with no tilt or pole in the water. Measured and marked from the lowest point of the hull bottom when poling. Top dot is 7 inches

My Mangrove is 8.25 with nobody in it. I measured my bottom build up after last summers barnacle fiasco.
